Tour Bicycle

When I used to be a kid, I used to look at each pro cycling tour on telly with my dad. He had an old track cycle that truly wasn’t well suited to the terrain. He used to race when he was younger, and he was a pretty robust biker. The difficulty was that he probably did not have a correct tour bike. The track bike had tires that were too thin for the rough roads where I grew up. He was good at controlling his bike, but even still, he would fall more frequently than he should have. Still, he electrified a genuine love of biking in me.

I’d ride nearly everywhere that I could, occasionally doing 20 miles in a single day.

By the standards of a pro bike rider that is not a lot, except for a kid that is quite a ride. When I was in school, I met a tour operator during the summer of my sophomore year.

He helped me build a new tour bike, and I chose to go with him that summer on his Eire trip. Eire was great bike country, crammed with sweeping hills and craggy, beautiful terrain. It was cool, breezy, and cushty the entire time.

To this day, I haven’t seen anyplace else that was quite so beautiful. Since that time, I have taken lots of tour bicycle trips on my own. When you work out the fundamentals, it’s not so difficult to do. You can get nearly anywhere on a bike today. My favourite trips are the major off road ones. Mountain bike tours are a pretty new activity, but they are rising in popularity. They let you enjoy the buzz of biking while also experiencing the great thing about the backwoods. It could be a small bit nerve wracking to be on a road bike day after day, dodging cars and fighting traffic.
